Take a journey into the origin story of one of the world’s most influential agricultural commodities: corn! Join us at Food + Farm Exploration Center for Taste of History: The Agricultural & Culinary Journey of Corn, a three-part series taking place this fall. Chef Dave will guide participants through the American and Wisconsin history of corn through interactive presentations, live culinary demonstrations, historic recipe samples, take-home recipe cards, and a featured plated meal during every session!

THREE-PART SERIES SCHEDULE
This program has three sessions in the series. Sessions will start at 5:30 PM and take approximately 2 hours:

Session 2 (Colonization to Industrial Revolution): Thursday, October 29, 2026
Session 3 (Industrial Revolution to Modern Times): Thursday, November 19, 2026
SESSION ONE DETAILS
Location: Kitchen Lab

Capacity: Limited to 28 participants
Includes: Presentations, live culinary demonstrations, take-home recipe cards, tasting samples, and a plated meal-sized portion. (Note: Menu samples and recipes are subject to minor adjustments based on ingredient availability).
WHAT TO EXPECT IN SESSION ONE
Ancient Agricultural History: Discover how early farmers cultivated wild corn and developed essential survival processing methods.
Culinary Demonstrations & Tasting Samples: Enjoy tasting samples of traditional tamales and Oneida white corn mush (inspired by a Luke Zahm recipe from the Field to Fork cookbook).
Featured Plated Meal: Savor a delicious, historic-inspired fish entrée served over hominy, wild rice, and cranberries.
Interactive Learning: Gain a deeper appreciation for Wisconsin's agricultural roots while learning in our state-of-the-art Kitchen Lab.
