Wisconsin Crop of the Month - Potatoes

Wisconsin is proud of the potatoes they produce, ranking third in the nation for production! Potatoes have been grown in the United States since 1621 and are now grown in every state. Over 65,000 acres of potatoes are harvested in Wisconsin every year!

With a wide range of varieties and ways to prepare them, potatoes are one of the most versatile vegetables. Wisconsin is proud to offer a range and variety, Russet, White, Red, Yellow, Fingerling, Blue, and Purple.

Not only do potatoes taste great, but they are also full of healthy nutrients. Potatoes contain approximately 3 grams of protein per potato with zero cholesterol. Baked potatoes even contain more potassium than a banana. They are also a good source of Vitamin C, iron, and fiber.
