Sanitation Specialist (Full-Time, AM Shift)

Organization Overview

Food + Farm Exploration Center (F+FEC), in partnership with Farming for the Future Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating current and future generations about agricultural innovation and sustainability. Located in Plover, Wisconsin, F+FEC aims to deepen the understanding of modern agriculture, promote agricultural literacy, and foster connections between farmers and consumers. By creating a space for learning and engagement, F+FEC provides an opportunity for people to explore the world of agriculture and better understand the origins of their food.

Position Overview

​​We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic full-time, first shift sanitation specialist for Food + Farm Exploration Center located in Plover, WI. The Sanitation Specialist will report directly to the Operations & Exhibits Director, developing cleaning protocols and implementing long-term strategies to ensure that the building and grounds are always clean and orderly in order to project excellence to all visitors and employees. The Sanitation Specialist will possess a positive, creative, and ambitious approach. An ability to be a part of a highly functional team with enthusiasm and professionalism is required.  ​

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and follow the cleaning protocols in all areas of the facility. 

  • ​Perform tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, washing windows and removing and disposing of trash and recycled materials in appropriate receptacles. 

  • ​Maintain the stock of sanitation supplies by performing weekly inventory and communicating ordering needs.  

  • ​Performing infrequent deep cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning and window washing.  

  • ​Interact with guests in a friendly manner, answer questions and provide good customer service. 

  • ​Participate in outdoor grounds maintenance including weeding, mowing, trimming, landscape maintenance, and snow removal as needed.  

  • ​On occasion, perform deep cleaning tasks. 

  • ​Assist with event space setup, tear down, pre-event and post-event cleaning.  

  • ​Cleaning in a commercial kitchen will be required.  

  • ​Maintain clean bathrooms by regularly inspecting and cleaning as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ​​3-5 years of responsibility and demonstrated success in facility sanitation/custodial services. 

  • ​Experience with non-profit and/or educational organizations.  

  • ​Self-starter with a demonstrated strong work ethic.  

  • ​Must possess the ability to prioritize and solve problems. 

  • ​Aptitude to work in a cross-functional organization. 

  • ​Motivated by change, growth, and the unknown.  

  • ​Every other weekend and some evenings required. ​

Physical Demands

  • Able to stand and sit for long periods of time.

  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders), reaching above the shoulders, lifting of up to ​​50​​lbs.

  • The hourly wage for this specialist position starts at $18 per hour.

  • Paid time off (PTO)
