PLOVER, WI – Just three months after breaking ground, the Food + Farm Exploration Center set the final structural steel beam on Friday.

The Center, slated to open Summer 2023, will be a place for people to come together on a journey into the world of modern agriculture, to meet the people behind food production, to build new science and engineering skills, to connect, play and learn.

The Center is the physical manifestation of Farming for the Future Foundation’s mission to educate current and future generations about agricultural innovation and sustainability.

“Our purpose in bringing the Food + Farm Exploration Center to life stems from the understanding that agriculture matters only to those who eat,” said Foundation Board of Director Richard Pavelski. “Agriculture is a matter of life and death. We look forward to helping our visitors reconnect personally with the food they eat every day.”

The Center will operate as a teaching farm, a children’s museum, a science center and a community workshop all rolled into a tantalizing celebration of food and farming. It will boast interactive exhibits that invite visitors to engage in active learning through hands-on experiences. It will be a place of collaboration and communication. It will bring together those who are working to feed the world and those who are on the receiving end of those efforts.

“The creation of the Food + Farm Exploration Center would not be possible without the generosity of our lead partners,” said Richard Jaworski, Center Director. “Our partners have helped us reach more than $23 million of our $36 million goal. They have not only given generously, but many of have become advocates for this project and extended our reach further than we could have imagined.”

The Foundation embarked on a capital campaign just over a year ago and has been able to gain support from aligned global industry leaders and local community partners alike. The Cultivating Connections campaign is expected to continue throughout the next year.

The Pavelski family will match up to $1 million raised through the Cultivating Connections Campaign through the end of August.
