FFTF: A Year in Review

A gathering space for elementary students, families, tourists and the local community may not be what is on most minds in 2020. While we are confined to our homes and fields and having Zoom calls instead of happy hours, it may be hard to remember school trips and weekend getaways. But, Farming for the Future Foundation hasn't lost sight of our goal.

Despite the hardships of 2020, we have taken steps forward to ensure that a center for food and farming exploration will one day be a reality. This year, we've moved closer to creating a shared space for hands-on learning and real-life farming experience, started developing lesson plans and relationships to increase ag-centered teaching in Wisconsin classrooms and connected with people and organizations who share our enthusiasm for education and agriculture.

This year's works has included:

  • Engaging teams of builders, architects and exhibit designers with the skill and foresight to create a state-of-the-art Food and Farm Exploration Center.

  • Adding to our board of directors to include eight members with expertise in Wisconsin, agriculture and education.

  • Creating an education committee to review drafted lesson plans and help to implement them in classrooms throughout the State.

  • Growing our team with two new staff members and contracting with an education consultant.

  • Building and deepening relationships with those who share our vision.

Our partnerships with growers, educators, food enthusiasts and community members who share our goals are truly what sustain and motivate us. Thank you to all who share a passion for passing one of Wisconsin's greatest traditions on to future generations. We look forward to seeing the preparation and planning we completed this year turn into action in 2021.
