Students are often unaware of the many types of technology that are used to preserve the foods we eat. Much of this lack of awareness is because they have never lived in a time without modern technology. Food preservation is critical to maintaining the safety of our food supply and providing consumers with an array of healthy food choices. In this lesson, students will consider how technology for preserving food has changed over time and transformed lifestyles in America.
