Introduction to White and Red Wines

This class will cover more in depth the characteristics of Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. We will learn how to read a wine label and learn the Nobel Grape Varieties. The session will begin with 60 minutes of general wine facts and end with a wine and cheese tasting. This will be presented in a conversational format and questions at any time are encouraged. Five wines will be tasted:

  • Gewurztraminer

  • Unoaked Chardonnay

  • Chianti

  • Syrah

  • Petit Sarah

This class is presented in partnership between Mid-State Technical College and the Food + Farm Exploration Center.
