Event Facilitator (Full-Time)

Organization Overview

Food + Farm Exploration Center (F+FEC), in partnership with Farming for the Future Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating current and future generations about agricultural innovation and sustainability. Located in Plover, Wisconsin, F+FEC aims to deepen the understanding of modern agriculture, promote agricultural literacy, and foster connections between farmers and consumers. By creating a space for learning and engagement, F+FEC provides an opportunity for people to explore the world of agriculture and better understand the origins of their food.

Position Overview

​​​​Food + Farm Exploration Center is seeking an Event Facilitator to execute & oversee events booked at our facility while creating excellent experiences at F+FEC. Reporting to the Event Manager, this role serves as a strategic partner for strengthening and evolving the standards of a service-focused guest and event experience in a rapidly growing, non-profit event venue. The ideal candidate will have experience in and a passion for outstanding customer service, hospitality, and event execution on small to large, customized meetings/events. They will possess excellent organizational skills to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment. The Event Facilitator needs to be a self-motivated forward-thinker who is confident in their decision-making and delegation abilities while directing Event Attendants and other staff members. ​

Essential Responsibilities

  • ​​​​Use of Banquet Event Orders to oversee and complete the set-up of assigned meeting rooms, ensuring all details are in line with the client's requests.  

  • ​Manage food and beverage service by coordinating with kitchen staff to ensure delivery and serving of food and beverages are done at the appropriate time.

  • Understanding and experience with food/beverage service is required. 

  • ​Confirm that the presentation of food and beverages meets the standards of the Food + Farm Exploration Center. 

  • ​Guarantee compliance with venue policies and procedures, as well as health and safety regulations.  

  • ​Promptly clear dishes from tables throughout the event and deliver to the appropriate dish area. 

  • ​Be receptive to requests and complaints made by guests and feel empowered to resolve any issues in a professional and timely manner.  

  • ​Monitor and manage inventory of supplies and equipment and communicate any needs to the Event Manager.  

  • ​Work closely with other departments, including the Colorful Plate Café, guest services, education, operations, and sanitation departments, to ensure successful events.  

  • ​Communicate with clients throughout their event to ensure satisfaction and build relationships for future bookings.  

  • ​Direct event staff throughout the event and provide guidance as needed, so that all event staff deliver excellent customer service.  

  • ​Maximize efficiency of the Events Department by keeping storage areas stocked, clean, and organized.  

  • ​Support the Exploration Center’s diversity and inclusion best practices to ensure that all visitors feel respected, warmly welcomed, and comfortable. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • ​​1+ years’ experience in event service. 

  • ​Attention to detail and organizational skills. 

  • ​Time management and multitasking capabilities.  

  • ​Understanding of what it takes to provide elite customer service and hospitality.  

  • ​Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse personalities. 

  • ​Completion of Wisconsin Alcohol Seller/Server Course and bartending license for the Village of Plover is required. F+FEC to cover the cost of any training, exams, and licensing.  

  • ​Strong knowledge of safe handling of food with experience in a food service, restaurant, or banquet setting. ​ 

  • Weekend and/or evening hours will be required.

Physical Demands

  • Able to stand and sit for long periods of time.

  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders), reaching above the shoulders, lifting of up to ​​50​lbs.

  • The hourly wage for this position starts at $18 per hour
