PRESS RELEASE: Food + Farm Exploration Center Featured at Wisconsin Ag Day at the Capitol

[PLOVER, Wis.] – More than 200 farmers traveled to Madison today for Ag Day at the Capitol to meet with Wisconsin legislators about issues of importance to the state’s agriculture industry, including asking for additional financial support for the Food + Farm Exploration Center currently under construction in Plover.

Farming for the Future Foundation is encouraging legislative leaders and members of the Senate and Assembly Agricultural Committees to add an additional $10 million in funding in the 2023-2025 Capital Budget to move this project one step closer to completion.

“Farming for the Future Foundation is grateful for the support of this project from Wisconsin’s farmers, the robust agriculture community, and sponsors of Ag Day at the Capitol,” Alicia Pavelski, Board President, said.  “This world-class facility will provide unique learning opportunities, workforce development training, and allow people across the state to understand how their food is grown.”

The Food + Farm Exploration Center will create at least 24 new jobs. The facility, which will be 50,000 square feet, will be located on 24 acres and include more than 16,000 square feet of hands-on learning space, 5,000 square feet of conference and indoor event space, 40,000 square feet of outdoor event space and four acres of agricultural teaching fields.

The Center will also focus on STEM and literacy education and the development of the next generation of agricultural workforce.  There will be onsite and classroom curriculum consistent with the state’s STEM initiatives.  Through its programs, the Center hopes to engage students by showing them why a career in agriculture can be rewarding.
