FFTF: 2021 Spring Update

We all know that Springtime in Wisconsin is unpredictable. April could bring sunshine or snow. Next month, we’ll be visiting a potato farm during planting season to learn more about the challenges and excitement that take place in the fields in Spring. Visit our website’s news section throughout the season to learn how farmers manage growing healthy crops despite surprises and challenges.

Keep reading to find out what we’ve been up to in recent months and meet another member of our team.

Grow with us!

Farming for the Future Foundation is on a mission to deepen the connections between people and their food. While we plan for a future full of opportunities to learn about production agriculture, right now, we're sharing information and lessons on topics related to food cultivation. Keep checking back on the news section of our website for virtual farm visits, food and stem related activities, and to meet members of our team. And, while you’re visiting our site, sign up for our newsletters to make sure you don’t miss out on future updates.

Project Updates:

The Food + Farm Exploration Center

  • We've completed the hiring of partners to build a space dedicated to education and experience in production agriculture. Our teams of builders, designers, architects and community developers are ready to work!

FFTFF Education Team

  • Our team is growing! If you know an education pro who would be a good fit for our collaborative and driven team, please share the job description, Education Program Manager - Plover, WI - Indeed.com with them.

  • There are exciting ways to build conversation and education around food, and classrooms are a great place to start. If you have experience in education and agriculture and would like to volunteer on our education advisory committee or offer feedback on our lesson plans as we develop them, please contact Candise Miller at CMiller@fftf.us.

Meet the Team!

Education is at the forefront of our work, and we are building a team of people committed to learning, sharing and growing knowledge about the production agriculture field. Sara Krauskopf, Ph.D. works with FFTFF as an education specialist and develops lesson plans for classrooms and life-long learners to inspire interest in food from seed through harvest, storage, transport and mealtime.

In the time that Sara has been working with Farming for the Future Foundation, she has developed multiple exciting and interactive lessons on topics ranging from a grocery store scavenger hunt to investigations in starch content in food. Designed for easy integration into fourth grade classrooms, the lessons connect agriculture to a wide range of subject areas including science, math, social studies and English. Ultimately, the activities will help students and families connect more deeply with their food and with one of the state’s largest industries.

We look forward to sharing these lessons with teachers and schools in the near future. Learn more about Sara’s work here.
