Special Drop-In Activities

  • Food + Farm Exploration Center 3400 Innovation Drive Plover, WI 54467 USA (map)

Enjoy special drop-in activities led by our education team. Activities change regularly with new ways to play, learn, and explore how food goes from field to fork!

Join us to enjoy three special activities:

  • 10 AM | Peas, Please! Cracking the Code: Become a botanical detective as we explore the genetic code of pea plants. From wrinkled peas to smooth ones, tall vines to tiny sprouts, uncover the secret story in the seeds. Investigate real pea plant traits and experiment with how these tiny traits are passed from parent to offspring in this interactive activity!

  • 11 AM | Planting Peas: Meet the three stars of the pea world: crisp sugar snap peas, tender snow peas, and classic shelled peas. After learning what makes each variety unique—how they grow, how they taste, and why gardeners love them—students roll up their sleeves and plant all three types themselves. It’s a delicious introduction to plant science, curiosity, and a little bit of garden magic.

  • 1 PM | Pea-chain Craft: Sculpt your own adorable pea pod keychain that’s sure to peas – we mean, please. Learners will shape tiny peas, tuck them into a curved pod, and add playful details that show off their personality. Each participant leaves with a charming keychain that’s equal parts creativity and craftsmanship.
