For winter break, our education team has organized some special activities that are appropriate for all ages.

You’re invited to enjoy some extra special activities in our special programming organized for the holiday break. These activities are FREE with general admission ticket. Find all ticket details here. We recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.
THURSDAY December 26th
10 - 11 AM Salt Dough Ornaments: Design your handcrafted ornament to add to your holiday decor. Discover where the tradition began and make lasting memories with your family in our Makerspace.
1 - 2 PM Paper Snowflakes: Make your own unique paper snowflake and learn why snow matters in agriculture for moisture, insulation, nutrient distribution, and pest control in our Makerspace.
Friday December 27th
10 - 11 AM Bean & Seed Mosaics: Design a beautiful mosaic using colorful seeds and beans while discovering the science of seeds! Learn how seeds are the foundation of life providing diversity for our diets and sustainability for farmers in our Makerspace.
11 AM - 1 PM Mini Potato Pizzas: Create something new and delicious using those leftover potatoes as the crust for pizza! Learn this easy recipe that can be customized easily. Enjoy a snack with Chef Dave in our Kitchen Lab. Vegetarian and gluten free options available.

Tuesday December 31st
10 - 11 AM & 1 - 2 PM Party Hats & Poppers: Celebrate the New Year in style when you make your party hat and popper for the celebration! Discover how air is used in agriculture in vegetable storage and processing then find examples in the exhibits to deepen your understanding.
12 - 1 PM Noon Year’s Eve Party: Join us to celebrate 2025 with prizes, music & dancing to ring in Noon Year’s Eve in the Makerspace!
Holiday Hours
We can’t wait to welcome you all for some festive fun but please keep our holiday hours in mind. Food + Farm Exploration Center and Colorful Plate Café are closed:
Christmas Eve, Tuesday December 24th
Christmas Day, Wednesday December 25th
New Years Day, Wednesday January 1st
We’re open normal hours outside of these closures. Make sure you purchase tickets in advance to save your spot for fun. We hope to see you soon!
