Cultivating a Love for Literacy and Learning in Central Wisconsin
Join Food + Farm Exploration Center as we proudly host another special event in the annual United Way of Portage County Summer Sizzle program! This fantastic community initiative travels throughout the region to promote youth literacy, prevent the "summer slide," and keep children fed, fueled, and learning while school is out.
During this free community event, children will dive into an engaging story time session. To bring the pages to life, our education team has designed an interactive, hands-on activity that connects the themes of the books directly to agriculture and it’s role in our daily lives. It’s a wonderful opportunity for local families to explore our beautiful campus, enjoy a great story, and discover how our food grows!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Interactive Storytime: Gather around for a fun, energetic reading session of two early-grade-level books.
Hands-on STEM Activities: After the story, the Food + Farm Exploration Center education team will guide participants through a sensory and educational activity related to the book's themes.
Healthy Snack: Every child attending will receive a complimentary snack to fuel their morning of exploration.
Free Book Distribution: As part of the broader Summer Sizzle program mission, children will have the opportunity to take home a book of their own to keep the reading momentum going at home.
