Sanitation Specialist (Part Time)
Organization Overview
Food + Farm Exploration Center (F+FEC), in partnership with Farming for the Future Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating current and future generations about agricultural innovation and sustainability. Located in Plover, Wisconsin, F+FEC aims to deepen the understanding of modern agriculture, promote agricultural literacy, and foster connections between farmers and consumers. Position Overview
Food + Farm Exploration Center is seeking a dependable, hardworking person who takes pride in keeping Food + Farm clean, safe, and welcoming. This is a part-time position with a mix of first and second-shift hours and will report to the Sanitation Manager. The Sanitation Specialist will perform routine and periodic cleaning of the building and grounds, assist with event setup and cleanup, and help maintain a positive experience for our visitors and staff. The right person for this role is reliable, pays attention to detail, works well independently, and is willing to pitch in where needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform routine cleaning tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, window cleaning, and removing and disposing of trash and recycling.
Complete periodic deep-cleaning tasks, including carpet cleaning and detailed window cleaning.
Regularly inspect and clean bathrooms to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Assist with outdoor grounds maintenance, including weeding, mowing, trimming, landscaping, and snow removal as needed.
Assist with event space setup, tear down, pre-event and post-event cleaning.
Interact with visitors in a friendly and helpful manner, answer questions, and provide good customer service.
Follow established cleaning, safety, and sanitation procedures.
Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment and notify the Sanitation Manager when supplies need to be replenished or equipment needs attention.
Work independently while also contributing to the overall success of the team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in custodial, sanitation, housekeeping, or facility maintenance work preferred.
Dependable and committed to completing assigned work and scheduled shifts.
Strong attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Able to work independently and stay on task while also working as part of a team.
Able to follow cleaning procedures, safety guidelines, and direction from the Sanitation Manager.
Able to prioritize tasks and respond to changing needs.
Positive and professional when interacting with coworkers, visitors, and vendors.
Able to safely use common cleaning products, equipment, and tools, with training provided as needed.
Must be available to work a mix of first- and second-shift hours, including every other weekend and some evenings.
Available to work 20-25 hours a week.
Physical Demands
Able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
Physical requirements include but are not limited to stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders), reaching above the shoulders, lifting of up to 50lbs.
