Spring Break 2026

Spring Break is just around the corner — and we have a full lineup of engaging, educational activities for learners of all ages! From hands-on STEM challenges to seasonal cooking, our Spring Break programs invite families and young explorers to dive into science, agriculture, creativity, and fun right here in Central Wisconsin.

Best of all, all event experiences can be paired with general admission to our 60+ hands-on exhibits so you can stay and explore before or after your workshop — making your Spring Break visit both fun and educational.

 

Carrot Rally Racers

Start Spring Break with a playful engineering challenge! Participants design and build rally-style cars from carrots and other vegetables, then test and race their creations. This hands-on activity encourages creative problem-solving and connects learners to agriculture through simple engineering.

  • When: March 17th from 10AM-12PM

  • Who: Suggested ages 2nd–6th grade

  • Cost: $10 (Members save 10%)

  • Limited to 24 participants

Vroomin’ veggies

Spark creativity and get kids excited about fresh foods! In this hands‑on workshop, young chefs build adorable veggie tractors and wagons, mix up a tasty homemade dip, and explore new flavors through fun, farm‑inspired activities. It’s the perfect blend of crafting, cooking, and play—designed to keep kids engaged and delighted.

  • When: March 24th from 10AM-11AM

  • Who: Suggested ages 1st-8th grades

  • Cost: $12 (Members save 10%)

  • Limited to 20 participants

Code + Conquer: Finch Bot Challenge

Learn the basics of coding with Finch Bots in this interactive tech workshop. Participants write and test code to complete agricultural-inspired challenges, building confidence in logic, technology, and teamwork along the way.

  • When: March 18th & March 25th from 10AM-12PM

  • Who: Suggested ages 4th–8th grade

  • Cost: $10 (Members save 10%)

  • Limited to 20 participants

Carrot Snacks Cooking Class

Celebrate the tastes of spring! Participants create colorful carrot-based snacks while learning basic kitchen skills and healthy eating habits — perfect for young chefs and curious food lovers.

  • When: March 19th & March 26th from 10AM-12PM

  • Who: Suggested ages 1st-5th grade

  • Cost: $20 (Members save 10%)

  • Limited to 28 participants

Petals + Plastic Art

Combine creativity with sustainability as learners create bioplastic suncatchers using pressed flowers and explore simple chemistry behind biodegradable materials. A perfect blend of art and science for all curious minds.

  • When: March 20th & March 27th from 10AM-12PM

  • Who: Suggested ages 6th-12th grade

  • Cost: $25 (Members save 10%)

  • Limited to 20 participants

Why Spring Break at Food + Farm?

Spring Break at Food + Farm offers more than single activities — it’s a chance to reconnect with how food grows, how tech empowers agriculture, and how creativity and science work together. Whether your child is coding a robot, building a veggie racer, or mixing up snacks in the kitchen, our programs inspire curiosity and learning through play and exploration.

Families can extend their visit into a full day of discovery when they purchase tickets to access our exhibits before or after our workshops

Tips for Families

  • Stay and Play: Workshop tickets do not automatically include exhibit access — purchase general admission tickets to enjoy exhibits, interactive galleries, and farm-to-table learning opportunities. Members have unlimited, free access year-round!

  • Registration Deadlines: Workshops require pre-registration and have limited spots — check specific event pages for details.

  • All Ages Welcome: While suggested ages vary by program, families of all ages are encouraged to participate and explore together.

  • Parents: Not required to attend, but need to remain on-site. Take some time to enjoy something delicious at the Colorful Plate Café!
